Having said the above, like you I do feel sorry for the buyer, and wish there was something we could do to make things right. The speakers appear to be 8ohm so there is little chance you will do any damage to your receiver. Hook them up to the spring loaded 'clamps'. They are just another way to connect your wires. You can either use banna plugs on your speaker wire and insert them into the holes on the speaker, or you can unscrew the top-most portion of the red and black connectors. When you unscrew each one you should see a hole to place the speaker wire into.

Remember that magic oil you could add to a worn out engine that would make it run like new. Some folks fall for these scams and others do not. It's part of American life of Buyer Beware. The thing is, I want to give you as much respect as I can, and maybe you are a credible audio dealer hoping to help people.
I can't believe I have never heard of the scam before, I feel like a dumbass. It was so convincing though, invoices, business cards, big catalogs showing everything. I have a RCA receiver that I bought about 2 years ago, the back of it has those little "clamps" that you have to seperate and then you push the wire into them and then you let go and they clamp down on the wire.
If they sound great good buy, if they dont sorry man check out what you buy before you pay for it, if they wont let you check it out say no, their loss not yours. Ya know it's almost as bad when people pay thousands of dollars for BLOSE..and that's in a retail store! As sad as this is and wish the OP got their money back, I'd like to know the rational behind buying from a source like this. Did this person say why he decided to by them?
I'd tell you that if you join with me and point out the fraudulent nature of these sales, then all is forgiven. If you continue the defense, then you have to realize it's important for people here to make sure it is countered, so that others cannot get taken. Purchasing to "sell out of a non-location" is a violation of the law in every state. If they do it as a practice as a "large business" they are openly violating tax laws and they would be violating their location agreements with every credit card company..
It still comes off as buyer beware and misrespresentation to me. It is true what you said about MSRP prices and what salesman will say to sell a product, but there is also something to be said for crossing the line. I've been appraoched before in a parking lot from the white van sales technique and found the whole thing to be way over the line. While maybe not illegal I still find it to be unethical. Also calling it a scam depends which definition you go by, the ones listed by that one guy aren't only definitions I can find...

It's of course the "white van" speaker of the internet age. I hate to say this, but I doubt there is anything he or you can do. Another part of America that the White Van selling brings back to our culture is the missing art of negotiating a price. Years ago it was common to negotiate with a seller the price of most large purchases.
